Ah, finally, something I feel like blogging about. I guess when you first start off you're like, hyper enthu (aka me) or something, then slowly... you start to lose it. Hmmm...
Anyway. Today I learnt a lot. Basically cleared up my messed up room, tried to study Biology... TRIED. Never really managed to get anything in, except a bit about protoplasms... but I shall not bore you with that. Did my Math homework.. yes, I only have one question left =P But that's bad, cos IRONICALLY, it's the most enjoyable thing to do at this point of time (which is productive enough). -sigh-
Visited my Grandma in the hospital. She had a heart attack yesterday morning, I think. Yeah. But today she seemed to the usual 'mama'. Which is a good thing.
Think I'm kinda wasting this holiday away... -mutters- So anyway.
10 things I learnt today (Most from Changi General Hospital)
1. Kung Pow Madness is CONTAGIOUS
Well you see, it goes like this. I lend the VCD to a friend, who's supposed to lend it to a friend. However, the friend I lent it to watches it, and gets many many kicks out of it. So for pretty long after that, all we're talking about is the rubbish from Kung Pow. Man, I've watched it 4 times and I'm still laughing. Kimmy, come over some time and lets relieve ourselves =P
2. People in hospitals can't be bothered to turn their phones to SILENT
Okay, for one, phones aren't even supposed to be on, especially not in ICU wards, but I was just in a normal one, so yeah. There were these occasional funny tunes in the ward I was in, but the owner usually hurriedly shut it off. So I guess that was... fine. But MAN ALIVE. This kinda middle-aged woman came in. And her idiotic/very very obiang tune went on and on and on. And on. Gosh, Dad and I couldn't stop laughing cans. Rubbishness prevails kia.
3. It's not easy to PEE in PAMPERS
Yeah, HOHO. Well you see, this old woman next to my Grandma (actually her daughter was talking to us. Her daughter = same age as my mum, yeah, you geddit king right.) She was using pampers. And like, apparently she took a month to 'adapt to her new environment'. Like, okkayy. I guess old habits die hard huh? Can't imagine me just peeing right now just cos I'm wearing pampers. -screams-
4. Hospital food is NICE
Yes, the hungry mania coped her Grandma's remnants. nono wait, that's wrong. Grandma's FOOD'S remnants. She left some porridge. Like, 0.5cm of a bowl? Those small ones. Tsk tsk. Felt sad for her; she's missed a lot of meals since she got admitted, so she's been hungry. My older cousin kept teasing her about food... tsk tsk. Funny kia. Anyway, the food was NICE. (My dinner after that was no match, surprisingly.)
5. My Mother is a GREAT WOMAN
And my Grandma agrees. Honestly, sometimes my mum is just so.. helpfully kpo. But that's good right, I mean, take initiative. We were sitting with my grandma when my mum noticed this other old woman like, falling off the bed or something. Went there to help her. (of course I assisted) Made sure she was comfortable and whatever not. Even my grandma was looking at her, smiling. "Your mother is very good, very helpful" -satisfied face- I guess what really lets old people like that die happy is knowing that they've brought up their kids well. =) Think my parents will die happy XP hor? haha.
6. I have the EXACT same HANDS as my mother, who has the EXACT same HANDS as her mother
Ok, that sure took long enough... say, 8 years? (don't count the first 6, I wasn't smart enough) terror sia. I mean, I was just watching, observing; when I realised the uncanny resemblance. Amazing genes/jeans.
7. Doctors have SPECIAL DISINFECTANT SOAPS
So, bored, I went to the sink to wash my hands (in preparation for my grandma's dinner...) Saw this soap thingy with a long long press-down button.. some extention la. So like, oh! interesting... -squirts once- wow, it's red! <-- ok this sounds stupid. -rubs hands- -reads instructions on bottle- "Rub for one minute" fwat!?! "Pay attention to nails" oooh, okayy... "Rinse thoroughly'' hmmm... -washes hands like siao- ahhh, done. how refreshing. Then I glance up... "FOR DOCTORS ONLY" ahhhh! whoops! -glances around- heh.. heh..
8. My guy-cousin looks very HANDSOME
Sorry girls, he's an adult. Haha. But just noticed it, he looks really good. His sister (the one who poked fun at my grandma for eating too much) looks gorgeous too. Lalala.
9. Sometimes nurses aren't very helpful
Hmmm, I said, SOMETIMES. Most are real cordial, but some... -shakes head- My poor grandma was asking for water the whole day. Never got it. Tsk tsk. The old lady next to her, too. Tsk tsk. But most of them are nice la. Maybe they've had bad days? Must understand... -agrees with self-
10. Sometimes being in a worse-than-usual state is GOOD for you
Like my Grandma; she's getting a lot of TLC now. And I think it's good, sometimes people feel neglected or something, but things like that. They make others care more, treasure you more, and I guess you just feel loved again. Sometimes things like that; they're just blessings in disguise. =)
Take a look at the ordinary, don't need to look to paradise. You could be next to an angel in disguise.
