Warning: A very very very very very long entry awaits you. Very very very veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy long. You have been warned.
Basically, my December has been so packed, and also so meaningful and amazing that I have to blog about it :)
So let’s begin :)
3rd to 6th December 2009 – Seri Alam
1. Kids there are amazing. They’re so easy to look after and to have fun with. Probably the simplicity of the lifestyle there makes the kids enjoy the simple games we had for them, unlike the spoilt brats in Singapore who only play on computers… My kids will only be allowed to play with toys and marbles…
2. I got to know a few people better, which I found quite amazing. Namely Becks (aka Rebecca/Becky Goh) and Annabelle. (Marilyn is not included because she is my godsister and I naturally know her well enough ahem ahem) It was really fun playing bridge and mafia with them and serving God together with all the kias too! :)
3. All the kids accepted Jesus into their lives! Hahaha… They’d get 100 points for enthusiasm, I must say. They are young and there’s only so much they understand, but I don’t doubt God’s work in their lives as their grow up :)
4. I’m quite amazed that God also gave me the energy and willingness to serve. It’s probably the first mission trip that I’ve gone for with the only intention of serving. The last trip was when I was in P6, and I went cos it was “fun”. It was an amazing experience :)
5. Got to know Dawn better on our shopping trip on the last day :) hehe she accompanied me shopping for prom shoes. She said my legs looked “va-va-voom” in those shoes. Nice :) hahaha it was really fun yay :)
Lastly… Came back to church to find Duane and Melvin on the pews downstairs. It was 7+pm and they’d just packed up stuff after the funfair. I was shocked, and pleasantly surprised :) and also very proud of them :) haha. All of us headed to the airport to have Deep Fried Buildings, Steamed Buses and Toasted Taxis with extra leather seats at the Xin Wang HK Café :) which was really fun too. Hehehehehehe.
9th to 11th December 2009 – Prom and Class Chalet
1. Major lesson learnt – There’s nothing amazing about prom, other than the fact that you get to dress up and look glamorous. The programme is… okay. The food is… okay. Ya. The only fun thing was taking photos -_- and looking glam. Or trying to look glam -_-
2. Taking a 13-seater cab immediately after prom with a whole bunch of classmates was more cool :) The cab was sleek man.
3. The main activity at chalet was… (no prizes for guessing) BRIDGE! And Wii was fun too :) At least we didn’t have to worry about homework. For once :) I love 08 S204. They made life in MJ FUN. Special thanks to my evil twin (who is definitely not reading this) for bringing the class together. I think we all agree it was TKC’s nonsense that bonded us as a class :) And to Nana, Rena, Muu, Er Hao, Lippy, Peh Hor, Shu Ying, Si Hoon, Sofiah, Alvin, Hizam, Zikri, thanks for being such awesome friends too :) I love you guys in mega amounts and I know we’ll continue to meet up even though we don’t see each other in school anymore :)
12th December 2009 – Jeff and Ashley’s Wedding! :) :) :)
Amazing. I love weddings :) That’s about all I can say. They had an amazing wedding and I’m glad I could help out by playing the keys :) Hope they’ll grow together in love and that they’ll continue serving God together :) :)
I have a feeling I’m missing some important dates here oh I think it’s all just camp meetings so…
16th to 19th December 2009 – Camp Mirage!
1. I’m still amazed that Lippy came for camp, and that he was so open and willing to listen and learn about Christianity and what we believe in :) Really encouraged and happy about it. And even happier that he got to know all the TCPC guys in our group and that they invited him to church :)
2. TCPC people are extremely friendly! :) My group = A.R.G.H EXCLAMATION MARK ARGH! Was awesome :) I got to know Rachall better (hurray!!! =D) and I’m really glad about that cos I’ve never really talked to her before. And got to spend more time with Annabelle too :) It was nice to serve alongside Kim, who was the group leader :) And again, The TCPC people are really nice. KCPC and TPC should have more events together weee :)
3. Learnt a significant amount during the workshops and it was really good. I managed to keep awake for the sermons too, and that’s great! Thank God man :) Discernment is SOOOOOOOOO important. So so so important.
4. I also realised that when I’m playing sports, I can get quite upset when people play unfairly or rudely… (lesson had a bigger impact here because it was carried forward from the chalet when I got quite pissed when one of the guys snatched the ball from me -__- so lame right.) That challenged me to really be more patient and just to have fun rather than be competitive… I must say I did try quite hard during Captain’s ball. LOL.
5. The most meaningful part of the camp, to me, was the Social Awareness Project. On the last day of camp, we went to the 1-room flats in Mac Phersons’ to give out food hampers. From packing the food to knocking on the doors to blessing people with the food, it was just so meaningful. I can hardly explain why, but I really loved doing that :)
21st to 23rd December 2009 – Kota Tinggi!
1. Extreme fun and relaxation after all that planning for Seri Alam and Camp Mirage :) Had an awesome time with the kias, and got to know Andrew, Jeff, Chris and Uncle Yao better. The others (Kimmy, Amandy, Desiree, Dawny, Sammy, Justy, Ronny, and Daddy) I know quite well already so just enjoyed time with them :)
2. An important lesson I learnt is that Yao Qi is deceptively holy. In other words he only has surface-level holiness and is actually a very mean person underneath! Okay kidding. Not that bad :)
3. Waterfall was very fun :) All the splashing of water and lying on rocks letting water gush over me was shiok. Choking on water and having water sucked into nostrils and sustaining bruises 4cm in diameter was not as fun, I must admit :) Watergun fight was fun too. Hahahaha the girls won YAY =D =D =D we’re awesome who said girls can’t fight huh huh huh who said girls are weak huh huh huh huh huh GIRLS WON OKAY!!!!!!!! WOOOOO!!!!!!!!
4. “Nostalgia night” was very fun :) And following that we had an edifying session of encouragement whereby each person would be encouraged and praised by everybody else. That was really nice, actually.
I wanted to cry when the others talked about Justin cos I was so glad that he was being appreciated, for once. People tend to take his love for granted. I exceptionally hate it when people who are oh-so-friendly in front of him call him weird or whatever, in front of me. Even if it’s like a casual remark I get quite upset about it and I wish I could slappayourface of that whoever but obviously I don’t.
But anyway that’s not the point! It felt nice when people praised me too. Haha :) Duh right. Who doesn’t like to be praised… =X I also do not like how I get emotional when I share my feelings about ANYTHING. So irritating. My voice gets all quaky and my throat tightens and all that crap and tears well up in my eyes for what I also donno so for like Justin and Dad I didn’t say much if not I’d be engulfed in tears/everybody would drown in Manhattan Fish Market -_-
SO BASICALLY KOTA TINGGI WAS AWESOME YAY =D =D =D =D =D
25th December 2009 – Christmas! :)
Put in a lot of time with the presents/wrapping and cards, but I did still remember that it was Jesus’ birthday :) I really enjoyed the service. The carols and songs were so meaningful, and the Music Ministry by the choir was actually really impressive and encouraging. It’s so amazing, so so amazing that Jesus would come down to earth from Heaven, leaving His throne and coming down to a corrupt, sinful, horrible world because He loves us, just so we would know that there is hope in a forlorn world. I think that’s the most significant thing I realised this Christmas. Jesus is so so amazing :) And I’m so thankful that although sometimes I have my doubts about God and His existence (Christianity is not very logical, that’s why it’s not a “religion”, it’s all about faith), ultimately HE still proves to me that He is God and that He does exist. :)
I’ve also realised that all I wanna receive during Christmas (if people do give presents) are just cards written/made or whatever from the heart. I think my love language is words… =)
27th to 30th December 2009 – OM Singapore Retreat in Bangkok
This effectively means shopping non-stop from morning to night. :) Got to know Jia Min, a girl who was previously on the Doulos for almost 5 years! It was very nice getting to know her :) She’s fun. Hehe. And also Jolene and Belva, the 2 little girls (belva’s not so little) but they were so chatty and giggly it was sooo fun :) Massages were awesome too.
On the last night I was massaged by a transvestite. It was quite interesting. Foot massage, btw. The guy was such a sweet… girl. He should’ve just remained a guy la. Seriously. With the right girl they’d be an awesome couple cos he’s like the very gentle, doting kind. Anyway.
It was fun :) Justin shopped like nobody’s business. Gross man. He shopped with a vengeance man, for not having shopped for 21 years of his short life. Hahaha it was amusing. I bought a quarter of the amount he bought :)
3rd to 6th January 2010
I just came back from another trip with my family and my godma, and it was awesome. My godma sponsored us, btw :) Super generous of her. Steam baths, LOTS OF FOOD (interval between meals on average 4 hours), slides, Jacuzzis, mini golf, movies, massage, FISH SPA!!!!! (so super funny and ticklish awesome my legs were like rejuvenated or something and it was so super cheap), casino (gasp gasp gasp gasp don’t worry I watched rather than played; it looked so super cool I was so tempted to play blackjack cos it looked so fun until I realised the minimum bet was S$25 siao liao I can buy like 12 bowls of Fei Fei Wanton mee Chilli/Ketchup small one siao liao siao liao) so it was awesome. Thank God for my godma, like seriously :)
Okay so that’s all for the awesome holiday :)
Also, some of you may know by now that I’ll be headed to South Africa for some missions. Basically there’ll be a training programme there from September to January, and I’ll be going for that :) I’ll head there hopefully in May, before the programme, to help out with OM SA or any other ministry that I can help out with. After Jan, I’ll hopefully stay until March and work with AIDSlink. I really hope I can, I’ve wanted to since I was 14 and I found out about the children in South Africa who suffer from AIDS at Teenstreet. My heart was so moved. I was so moved, I cannot explain why, but I want to go there. So I’ll be taking a gap year and start Uni in 2011 :) Yup! Exciting :)
Okay till next time, take care and love God! :)
