Last night, I was praying before I slept, thanking God for letting me be born into a Christian home with a lovely Christian family.... And then it struck me.
If my family weren't Christian, I'd probably never become a Christian.
1. I'd think I'm good enough on my own, since I can get good grades, have good friends, pretty good at what I do... I'd think I were self-sufficient.
2. The idea of giving up all to follow Christ just wouldn't appeal to me - I'm already so self-centred, and if it's not for His grace, I'd be even more so.
3. I'd probably be one of those who just isn't interested in religion at all, not really wanting to hear what my friends had to say about Christianity anyway - why would I need "religion" when I'm doing fine?
And with that... I was even more thankful. Because I knew that if not for His grace in blessing me into such a lovely home, I wouldn't be who I am today.
I am a child of God! :) And that brings me great pleasure and joy :)
